What Should Valentine's Day Really Mean to Us?

Hi everyone!

Hope ya’ll have gotten off to a blessed and prosperous start with 2016! I DEFINITELY have. :) I want to encourage those who might be feeling disheartened this weekend (especially if you are single and not really wanting to be). Please don’t become discouraged by all the cupids, flowers, candies, “Will you Please Be My Valentine’s” cards floating around. February 14th isn't a culmination of your God-breathed (Job 33:4) and God inspired worth and value (Gen. 1:26). If you need to be reminded of your worth and value this day and everyday for that matter, one scripture to refer back to is John 3:16. Sometimes if can be a clique and overused verse, but really take the time to meditate and let those words soak in, of how loved and cherished YOU are.

Of course we have all been told that this is a day of LOVE. Don’t be tricked, if you have to wait until February 14th to express or know you are loved by someone, you might want to re-evaluate that relationship. SERIOUSLY! Anyways, I don’t want to keep you too long, but I would STRONGLY ENCOURAGE you guys to watch these videos on the true history of Valentine’s Day. I promise you, once you know the real history and want to live a life pleasing to our Lord Jesus Christ (which means abstaining from all appearances of evil (I Thes. 5:22) and making sure that we keep ourselves from idols (1 John 5:21), as well continue to turn away from things that can enslave us (Galatians 4:8-9). Honestly, there is NOTHING, sweet, romantic, innocent, or MOST IMPORTANTLY, godly about observing this holiday.

Until next time!
