Something to Think About...

Hey everyone,

I plan to post soon, but until then, here's two videos you should view, Especially for those who consider themselves Christ followers and observe/celebrate Halloween.

"And they shall teach my people the difference between the holy and profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean." - Ezekiel 44:23

Rosh Hashanah (Head of the Year)!

Shanah Tovah! (Have a good year in Hebrew) for those who celebrate the Jewish calendar new year. I admit the first night of my Rosh Hashanah was nothing like I expected it to be, but I definitely made some changes in my life and felt that sense of newness. So I choose to believe with everything going on around me this will be a good year as long as I stay in the “shadow of the Most High” (Psalm 91:1: 16:11).

I’m a follower of Bible prophecy and it’s been said that last night the Shemitah ended, which means that God’s judgment will be upon those who have not made Him the Lord of their lives. This morning I was reading Romans 1:17-20 vs. 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. 18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; 19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. It reminded me of the state this society is in now and how we are seeing human history repeat itself unfortunately. The Bible tells us that we must seek wisdom and knowledge. The whole book of Proverbs is filled with it. The first chapter of Proverbs talks about how a wise man will want to be taught the things of God and how one should avoid evil at all cost. Unfortunately, so many people, including Christians are entangled in evil and don’t even know it. This is something that concerns me, because of the lack of discernment and delusion that has clouded people’s physical and spiritual eyes. I always have to come back to Romans 12:2, And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. I’m not saying that I’m perfect in this, but I will say that I have in the more recent years been more quickly to accept what things are truly of God and what are of this world and flesh. As 1 Peter 5:6-11, talks about submitting yourself which means your desires, life, choices, preferences, comforts before the Lord and doing what He says, because He says so and realizing in doing that he will take care of you. It also talks about being clear minded and on guard (not paranoid, but willing to test the spirits of everything that comes your way to know whether the source is holy or evil). It also says that those who resist evil and temptation will be strengthened and be with Jesus Christ forever. I’ll be honest and say when I look at the Church or what is supposed to be the Church, this is not what I see. I see more people who have become too comfortable with making Earth their home that they aren’t even thinking about anything eternal whatsoever----thinking about life in the next 5,10, 15 years and retirement. I guess what alarms me the most is when I show enthusiasm that maybe life as we know it won’t exist much longer, i.e. the Church will be raptured (pre/mid/post) and all this trivial stuff with the here and now will truly be something of the past. It’s then I see people who identify themselves as Christians scoffing at that idea saying that they don’t think it will happen in their lifetime. To those people I tend to believe they don’t want it to happen in their lifetime. I should know, I used to be one of those people. However, I got to a point in life where I realized that I will never find the peace, complete fullness of joy or sense of perfection on this side of life and began wanting more. The more one studies the Bible and learns of the Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) as well as the place (Heaven) that the Son, Jesus Christ has gone to prepare for us (John 14:3), then that is what excites me at this point in life. Someone once made a comment to me about how they don’t believe in end times bible prophecy because it causes the masses to have fear and I can agree with that, to an extent. What I don’t agree with that just because it causes fear, doesn’t make it not true. It is one’s hope that the fear would cause people to make sure they are right with their Creator by making Him Lord of their life. This is a topic for another post. But I will say that a lot of Christians have made Jesus their Savior (meaning he died for their sins and they accept that), but they didn’t make Him Lord of their lives (meaning that they gave Him complete control and reign of their lives)---Philippians 2:11; Romans 10:9: Romans 14:9.

I need to cut this short and prepare for tomorrow. It is my prayer that as we start a new year, no matter where you are in your walk, you will begin or continue to walk with godly wisdom, knowledge, discernment and insight for what the Holy Spirit will have you and your family to do. Some things may or may not pertain to the end time prophecies that have went forth about this upcoming year, but one way or another you should hearing from the Holy Spirit and taking heed to what He has called and required of you at this time.

Until next time…

Let's Give this Another Try

So it’s been 4 years since I last penned something here. I wish I could provide a good reason, but I honestly can’t, except I let life distractions get in the way. That and I do feel that I needed to be silent for a while, while I learned and re-taught some things that have shifted my spiritual walk these past 4 years. I have to say that if you would’ve told me when I was a child or in my 20s for that matter than I would be where I am today, I would’ve scoffed and said that the person was on a verge of blasphemy. I will say that outside of my immediate family, this walk has been a lonely, frustrating, and scary one at times. Some days it still feels that way, but the Holy Spirit has sent people and ministries in my life to let me know that I’m not alone, so that has always been reassuring. I will admit I have been having the writing bug for about a year now. I have been procrastinating or to be honest with myself and everyone else out there, rebellious about doing this. My reason was flat out fear. I don’t like being put in the spotlight, and I feel anything you use social media and/or blogs that is exactly what one is doing. The reason I’m doing this, is because two things. When I was a child I remember being impressed in my spirit that I would be an author, because I had heard the words “write” being a kid in the 80s/90s write meant a book, not a blog. Maybe there will be a time when I publish a book, but I come to realize in this day and age, one reaches more through this platform than by way of books. My other reason is because I see how lost, confused, and distracted some people are, and sadly born again Christians are falling into this category. I’m the last one to say that I have all the answers, far from it. I will say, that my journey in the more recent years have led me come to the biblical knowledge, truth and understanding of things that I didn’t know before. Religion and tradition can only take a person so far and nowadays it is not taking many people far at all. It is my hope and prayer this time around that I will present information to you for you to ponder and seek the Holy Spirit about. The reason I feel this is important is because we are and at lightning bolt rate, arriving at a time where what used to be able to sustain us spiritually, will not cut it in the times we are about to embark.
When you read words from this page, I hope you are convicted, I have believed conviction will move and change a person’s heart much quicker than condemnation. So just a head up, condemnation is not my aim. Nor is debate. I realize that not everyone will agree with any or everything I say on this page and I’m okay with that. However, I will not engage in debate. For one, debates don’t change a person’s heart, two debates feed the ego (fancy word for pride), and three, sacrifice of time is being made to write, so having a “friendly” argument is not something I will allow myself to be drawn into. I will welcome any genuine questions and or comments. I don’t have all the answers, but willing to search them (I’m a social worker by trade, so looking for answers and resources is second nature to me---smile). It is my prayer that as I type the words on this page and you read then, we will both grow closer to the Holy Spirit and knowing what He would have each of us do in these times as it winds up.

Until next time...

“Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles’ wings, and brought you unto myself. Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice, indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: and ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.” ---Exodus 19:4-6

Whispers of Fear

I’m so peeved at myself right now. Every time I think I’m made huge improvements in the area of self-esteem and confidence, another area is always uncovered. Let me explain. Lately, I’ve been trying to lose weight. Thirty pounds to be exact. Those who know me think I’m crazy for trying to do so, but I’m at the point where I want to be healthy (and yes, I know weight does not dictate the measurement of physical wholeness, but it is a component for some, including me). So in order for me to lose weight and focus on being healthy, that includes working out and being active. Naturally, I’m not athletic and could care less about being active. But because I want to be a good steward over the physical body I’ve been given while inhabiting the earth, exercise has to be included in my lifestyle.

Hence, the 5k. Yep, most people know 5k is 3.1 miles. This is what I will be running on May 14th of this year. I’m going to be honest with you. I’m so plagued with fear wondering if I’ll actually be able to run that distance, although I have more than 9 weeks to train; although I never mastered the skill of jogging/running in the past, I overcame that fear; although I have pushed myself physically before to lose the first 30 pounds; although I am surrounded by people who have run the 10k, and a full marathon, I am at the point of questioning whether I can really do this or not. Now, I know this isn’t of God and my logic continues to tell me it is ridiculous to be this fearful of this feat. Of course, the actual root cause of this whole thing for me is fear of failure, which again isn’t of God.

Why do I continue to see things that don’t measure up to my idea of success to be failure? Why do I keep using my own limited mindset as the rubric for what is success and failure? Why do I continue to let the whispers of fear in various area of my life speak to me instead of allowing the Living Word to soak me and leave me so drenched that fear has no place in my life? Why do I continue to allow myself to be limited in what and I can should achieve in life instead of believing that if I have an idea that sounds outrageous in my mind to believe that it must be God speaking to me and if it is so, then He has made provisions for me to achieve that task?

So for those of you struggling with fear, doubt, uncertainty, your assignment (as well as mine) will be to meditate (meaning constantly keep your mind on, study, ponder, digest) these scriptures, as well as other scriptures you may come across in dealing with overcoming fear.

“There is no fear in love; but perfect love cases out fear, because fear involved torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love”. – 1 John 4:18

“For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” Romans 8:15

“God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7

“I can do all things through Christ who gives me the strength” Philippians 4:13

Whenever fear of whatever it is you are going through begins to rise up, cast them down ASAP. The longer it takes for you cast them down, the harder it will be to get rid of that thought. I recently heard that if a thought stays on mind longer than 30 seconds, then you have already given it too much time. I have found that statement to be very true. If you feel that it is a true stronghold, then you it may be something you need to fast through in addition to soaking yourself with the Word. For me personally, there was one instance, where I was fearful of driving on overpasses, especially narrow ones. I would just be extremely nervous even in perfect weather conditions. It was one night I was driving home during an ice storm that really worked my nerves and all I could do was speak in unknown tongues (Acts 2:4) for almost the entire drive home. It was about a few weeks after that incident I noticed I no longer got that panicked feeling when driving on the overpass.

So leave you with this scripture, “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus”. – Philippians 3:14

Until next time…

Hey everyone!

As always, it is my hope that you are continuing to walk and grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ. I’m embarrassed to say, but it just occurred to me that not everyone who reads this site is a born-again Christian. If that is the case, and you want the opportunity to become one, then I truly apologize for not posting this earlier. I found this website that covers all bases (all the fonts in bold are found at joycemeyer.org):

How to Become a Christian

Why am I here? Who am I? What will happen when I die? These questions have intrigued people throughout the ages. And the answers can be discovered by understanding God’s plan of salvation.

You have probably heard the story of God's love referred to as the "Gospel" or "Good News." What is the Good News? Simply this: Because of what Jesus has done, your sins can be forgiven and you can live forever.

What did Jesus do? Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came into the world as a human being, lived a sinless life, died on the cross and rose from the dead.

Because Christ died to pay for our sins, your sins can be forgiven. And because He conquered death, you can have eternal life—you can know for sure what will happen to you after you die.

But this gift of forgiveness and eternal life cannot be yours unless you willingly ask for it. God requires an individual response from you.

In Revelation 3:20, Jesus says, "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me."

What does this mean? Jesus Christ wants to have a personal relationship with you. He is waiting for you to receive Him into your heart and life. All you have to do is invite Him in.

But your first step is to ask for forgiveness:

Repent...that your sins may be wiped out and times of refreshing may come from the Lord. —Acts 3:19

Once you’ve asked for forgiveness, your next step is to believe and trust in the gift God is giving you.

Understand, this gift of forgiveness and eternal life is free. It’s something you can’t earn.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. —Ephesians 2:8,9

The word grace means "undeserved favor." It means God is offering you something you could never provide for yourself. You don’t have to work for this gift. All you have to do is believe with all your heart that Jesus Christ died for you. Do you believe?

The Bible promises that when you sincerely ask God for forgiveness and trust in Jesus, you will experience new life in Christ.

That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. —Romans 10:9

Today, with all your heart, surrender your life to Jesus Christ. Confess your sins. Ask God to forgive you. Say that you'll trust in Jesus. And thank Him for the gift of everlasting life. Pray now:

"Father, I know that I have sinned against You. Please forgive me. Wash me clean. I promise to trust in Jesus, Your Son. I believe that He died for me—He took my sin upon Himself when He died on the cross. I believe that He was raised from the dead. I surrender my life to Jesus today.

"Thank You, Father, for Your gift of forgiveness and eternal life. Please help me to live for you. In Jesus' name, Amen."

There is nothing magical about the words you use. It is the attitude of your heart that God cares about.

Your final step in becoming a Christian is to receive this free gift of forgiveness and eternal life. The Bible teaches:

Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. —John 1:12

When you receive Christ into your heart, you become a child of God. You have the privilege of talking to Him in prayer. At any time. About anything.

The Christian life is a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. And best of all, it is a relationship that will last for all eternity. Joyfully receive it!

If you want another example of how to do a Salvation Prayer, you can use the following, but remember this is the beginning of a new relationship, not religious practice. More than anything God wants you to speak from your heart.

“Dear Heavenly Father, I am coming to you asking that you forgive me of all the sins that I have committed. I believe and confess that Jesus Christ died for my sins and on the third day rose again and conquered death and the grave (Romans 10:9-10;13). I believe Your Body and Blood is more than enough to cleanse me of my sins if I choose to accept. I know that I can no way save myself, but You are the Mediator who makes it possible for me to come to throne of grace (John 14:6; Hebrews 4:14-16). This day, I choose to repent (turn away from) all my sinful ways and walk in your ways (Joshua 22:5). Thank you for coming into my heart and making it new (Psalm 51:10). Satan, I renounce your ways and no longer choose to walk in darkness, but in light (Acts 26:18). No longer will I be controlled by sin or the desire to please myself, but follow Christ all of the days of my life.
Thank you Jesus for making me your child and having me become the righteousness of God in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21)! Amen!”

If you just prayed this prayer or something similar to it, you have just become a Child of the Most High!

Until next time....

Heart of Hope

“Discouragement is dissatisfaction with the past, distaste for the present, and distrust of the future. It is ingratitude for the blessings of yesterday, indifference to the opportunities of today, and insecurity regarding strength for tomorrow. It is unawareness of the presence of beauty, unconcern for the needs of our fellowman, and unbelief in the promises of old. It is impatience with time, immaturity of thought, and impoliteness to God.” - William Ward

I heard the above quote this past Sunday while watching Christian television. I’m embarrassed to say I had never heard it before now. Anyone who knows me knows I love quotes and I feel like I should have had this quote a long time ago. Just like Bible scriptures, quotes can contain is so much depth and meaning to them. Like peeling away an onion layer---there is always something new to be found. I never thought about discouragement being the things mentioned above, but when you really take to time to stop and contemplate, it really is the truth.

I do realize that not everyone has had a good or decent past so, when they look back on it, they might find dissatisfaction with it. BUT, if they are a child of God, no matter what your past was you should be able to see or believe, that God has or will restore/redeem the time that was stolen (Joel 2:25). For those that aren’t happy with the present (I’m a former club member), remember as a man thinks, that he is (Proverbs 23:7). For those who aren’t anticipating the future with hope and excitement, all I have to say is REALLY?! Life has a way a changing for the good or bad in a matter of seconds. So why not choose to think positive and put your hope and trust in Someone who already knows the plans He has for you (Jeremiah 29:11) and just start believing that the better days are yet to come. Yes, I know I probably sound like a motivational speaker, whose name I’d rather not mention, but I promise you I’m not sitting here typing with a huge grin on my face. I’m typing and thinking that I will be tested on this and I will truly have to chew and swallow my own advice soon. With all of that being said, I’m sure you are wondering where all this is coming from. Well, glad you asked. My church is spending 4 weeks on a sermon series of Voice of Hope and hearing God’s voice. So with the sermon and the small group that accompanies it, it’s something that has been on the forefront of my mind the past couple of weeks. In the recent months and weeks l’ve been wanting to hear God’s voice more often and kept saying that I would start making the time, which I didn’t until the new year arrived. So the timing was perfect. I’ve been taking sermon notes the past couple of weeks, so I’ll share with you some of the highlights that you might want to take to heart.

*Hope doesn’t mean the same as a wish, wishes don’t sustain the human heart, hope does

*Our hope is in the salvation through Jesus Christ, which is our foundation

*Our confidence comes when we hear God’s voice speaking to us

*Our culture drowns out every voice that matters; don’t let other’s opinions shake you, stand firm on God’s voice

*If you don’t know what on God’s mind, you will be shaken by everyone else’s opinion; external voices are always a set-up for hopelessness and failure, the internal voice (Holy Spirit) is the one who provides hope

*Hope and purpose go hand and hand (Jeremiah 29:11)

*A hard heart will never have hope; our hearts must be soft and pliable to hear what God is saying

*Hope comes from agreement, not just hearing God’s voice

*The question isn’t can you hear from God, but can you get rid of some of the noise; need to make room to hear from God

*The role of the Bride/Church is to say “yes” to the Lord and obey/do what he says; ask God what burdens He has on His heart and have the heart to carry His burden as well (the poor, widow, orphan, shut in, etc.)

*Religion will always bypass the burden of God’s heart; but relationship centers around it (ex. Good Samaritan)

*We can’t speak for people we don’t even hear, we won’t be able to speak on behalf of a God we don’t even know

I leave you with something that I wrote last night during my small group meditation time, last night the scripture was on Psalm 86:11 “Teach me Your way, O Lord, I will walk in Your truth: unite my heart to fear Your name.”

Your truth is my guide, my light, my map. Without Your truth I truly am lost and clueless.
In Your name solace is found,
In Your name hope is found,
In Your name truth is found,
In Your name victory is found,
In Your name peace is found,
In Your name joy is found,
In Your name love is found,
In Your name confidence is found.

So, my question to you is what and/or whose voice are you currently listening to?

Until next time...

Authencity, authencity, authencity....

Hi everyone!

Hope the 1st half of January has been a good one for you all. :) For me it’s been a time of laying all the cards out on the table and seeing all the possibilities this year and beyond could bring. I’m now trying to narrow down and see what path I’m supposed to take, not necessarily the one I have planned or want to take. So needless to say, it is a bit frustrating, but also it does give me the hopes that I am a little closer to living my “authentic life”. Without trying to sound new age-y, what I mean by authentic life is living the life that God desires for me to live and no longer trying to find a balance between being politically and socially correct and being a sold-out woman for Jesus Christ. As I get older, I can’t say I believe it’s possible, especially in the 21st century. It’s oil and water if you ask me, which causes me to recall the scripture verse Romans 12:2,"Be ye not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." Looking back at my younger years, I was so dogmatic and black and white with a lot of my belief systems because of my Type A personality type. When I arrived to college I spent those years trying to “find myself” and figure out what I believed, for myself and not readily adopting my parent’s belief system without having my own life experiences to be my foundation. While doing that, I realized that life is not always black and white and can have shades of gray at times. After realizing that, I went from one extreme to being so vocal and blunt to subdued and passive when it came to my belief system. So, as I embark a new year and close to the beginning of my 3rd decade on earth (less than 6 months away—whoo hoo), I want to live a life where I can look back and know that I lived the life that God intended for me to live. I want to accomplish that by doing the things He wanted me to do, going the places He wanted me to go, meeting the people He wanted me to meet, focusing on the causes He wanted me to focus on, and having a heart for the whatever He has a heart for. What better way to live life than to walk through it having the privilege and blessing of hearing Him whisper to our spirits, “Well done, my good and faithful servant…”

With all of that being said, sometime the things we are called to do will go against the norms of society and may cause us to look weird and out of place. For the most part, through my actions, I have stuck by my principles and convictions, which alone has made me feel out of place and lonely at times. The issue that bothers me most is when I’ve been silent about most of my principles and convictions and don’t always vocalize why I believe what I believe, which is usually based on biblical grounds (so unpopular nowadays), it is in fear of being looked at as out of touch, rigid, and dogmatic. All characteristics I find to be unattractive in a person—Christian or non-Christian. So it is my desire from here on out to be that Christian that is authentic in action (which I’ve been doing), voice (which I need to improve on), while still being approachable to most I come in contact with. If you aren't approachable, whose life are you going to help transform? At the end of the day, what is the point of me having Truth and not sharing with others as to why I have it and how I got it?! So are you living your authentic life in Christ? If not, now is as a better time as any to do so. :)

Side note, recently began doing more research on fasting and found this website about how to do a Daniel Fast and just fasting in general is interesting. I haven’t tried the tips out yet, but thought I’d let others know about what appears to be a good resources to have.
